When it comes to wedding decorations, the wedding centerpiece is one of the most important elements at the venue. It will be one of the main things that your guests will see during the reception. This is why it is a good idea to spend some extra time on arranging or choosing centerpieces that will work well with your wedding style.
Floral centerpieces are the most popular choices. But this does not mean that you need to restrict your choices to flowers. You can be imaginative and come up with something fun if you prefer. Be creative and use the centerpieces to express your individual style and to incorporate the theme of your wedding.
When choosing or designing your centerpiece there are a few things you should consider.
Your Wedding Theme and Style
The first thing is to have a think about your wedding theme before you start. This will have an impact on the centerpieces. For example if you are having a tropical wedding then you should choose tropical flowers such as orchids or plumerias. Do some research on the types of flowers you would like before you go to the florist. Look through magazines and pictures in books and on the internet. Maybe even things like decorative pebbles or florist marbles can be added to the piece if you are after a more modern look. There is also the option of floating candles.
There are many containers to choose from ranging from glass or crystal vases, vintage vases, rose bowls, low bowls for floating flowers and candles. Flower pots have also been used by many. Candelabras make wonderful centerpieces as you can wind flowers around them.
Think about the season when your wedding will take place and the flowers that will be available then. Don’t decide on flowers until you know that you can get them during your time of year. Other elements that can be added are things like pine cones and colored leaves during the colder seasons like fall and winter.
Your Reception Venue
Consider the size of your venue. Smaller size weddings call for smaller and more intimate arrangements. If the wedding is a large one then bigger and more elaborate centerpieces may be used. Keep in mind though that you don’t want it to be so big that it blocks your guests views. Yet not so small that it gets lost on the table. Think about table sizes and the number of guests that will be at each table. Think about where your wedding reception will be held, the surroundings and the feel of the place.
Color is an important element when it comes to the centerpieces. Your colors should be the same throughout all the decorations you are using for your wedding. Flowers can be selected in matching colors to the rest of your wedding scheme. Picking flowers with the same colors as your bridesmaid dresses is an option. Or using some of the same flowers that are used in the bridal bouquet.
Sometimes it can be nice to pick flowers that have a special meaning.
You can have perfect wedding centerpieces by thinking about all these things when choosing or designing yours.
